Entwined With You by Sylvia Day – @SylDay

15731779ABOUT: The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires…
From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession… (Book 3 Of The Crossfire Series)

REVIEW: This is Book 3 of Sylvia Day’s Crossfire Series, ‘Bared To You’ & ‘Reflected In You.’ Entwined picks up where ‘Reflected’ left off; a murder had been committed in the name of love. Gideon, lover to ,Eva kills the man that had haunted Eva most of her life, her half brother. The suspect pool is slim and Eva, though grateful that she never had to fear for her safety anymore, she’s worried that all will lead back to Gideon as the person with motive for this horrific act. Ms. Day transitions into the next part of the story perfectly, leaving no gaps and back tracks smoothly enough to be a stand alone read, not needing to have read the 1st two prior books. The relationship of Eva & Gideon’s gets more intense throughout the book, they have a bond and a need to be connected that is profound. They are all that each other needs. All the characters prior return as well: Eva’s mother, Cary, Eva’s roommate as well as former love and rock star Blake. Gideon’s last encounter with the singer was a fist to the face for kissing Eva. Blake returns to promote hie new video and the song was written for Eva, so this makes a reminder to Gideon of her past love for him which is completely played out in the video. Entwined had plenty of sexual escapes and hot steamy accounts of those intimate times together. Sylvia leaves us hanging for more at the end… Gideon & Eva have secretly gotten married with looming issues not resolved that we now must be waiting patiently for…

VERDICT:If you already love the series you will NOT be disappointed. Well done!

REVIEW: This is my second read of Krystina’s – I read Lust & Larceny and was not thrilled at all, actually I really didn’t like it. However, Red Letters was really, really good. What a different book! Great drama! This was a real story, outside the box for the steamy read’s. There was tension, suspense, edge of your seat story line. When you think you have it you don’t.. it was like a gripping thriller type movie, lots of intrigue… just the right sexiness, lust, want and need. “Red Letters” are of course apparent to the plot, but they draw you in and are not necessarily what you thought they were. Very pleased with this book; would love to see more like this. You will enjoy this, I have no doubt, and you want to know the end….

VERDICT: Nice change up!

If You Stay by Courtney Cole – @Court_Writes

24-year old Pax Tate is an asshole.

He’s a tattooed, rock-hard bad-boy with a bad attitude to match.

But he’s got his reasons.

His mother died when Pax was seven, leaving a hole in his heart filled with guilt although he doesn’t understand why.  What he does know is that he and his dad are left alone and with more issues than they can count.

As Pax grew up, he tried to be the kid his father always wanted; the perfect golden boy, but it didn’t work.  His dad couldn’t overcome his grief long enough to notice and Pax couldn’t keep up the impossible perfect façade.
So he slipped far, far from it.

Now, he uses drugs and women to cope with the ugliness, the black void that he doesn’t want to deal with.  If he pretends that the emptiness isn’t there, then it isn’t, right?

And it’s never more apparent than when he meets Mila.
Sweet, beautiful Mila Hill is the fresh air to his hardened frown, the beauty to his ugly heart.  He doesn’t know how to not hurt her, but he quickly realizes that he’s got to figure it out because he needs her to breathe.

When memories of his mother’s death resurface from where he’s repressed them for so long, Mila is there to catch him when the guilt starts making sense.  Mila is the one…the one who can save him from his broken troubled heart; from his issues, from the emptiness.

But only if he can stop being an asshole long enough to allow it.

He knows that.  And he’s working on it.

But is that enough to make her stay?

I really enjoyed this book! Mila and Pax are so, SO different but work well together. I have to admit, that opening scene almost through me off. It was pretty gross and the imagery made my stomach churn. But I was glad that I continued!

They have a sexy, immediate attraction once everything settles. Pax is broken and so is Mila which I think would be easy to take for granted. I LOVED the setting for this book, it made me want to grab a cup of hot chocolate, put on a sweater and curl up with Pax…LOL. We know that Pax is deeply broken, something that affected him so much that he has carried it with him the majority of his life. When we do find out, God, my heart just ached for him. I can’t imagine being in his position and I think I felt more of a pull toward this book when I found out that a lot of it was influenced and inspired by true events.

Courtney Cole’s writing is witty and addictive. The only thing I had a “ehh” moment with was the first intimate scene. It was VERY intense (man, one of the best sex scene ideas I’ve read) scene and I felt that it happened too soon. They were still vulnerable to each other and I can’t imagine being at the stage they were at and doing what they did.

At the end of the day, I really loved this book and I can’t wait to read more by Courtney Cole!

Read it! And take notes, boys, on that sex scene, hehe.

Under His Command (Six-Alarm Sexy) by Kristine Cayne – @KristineCayne

16164061 ABOUT: A firefighter desperate to save his failing marriage earns the trust—and the sexual submission—of his controlling wife in the most pleasurable of ways. After an explosive one-night stand results in pregnancy, Jamie Caldwell is thrilled to marry the perfect foil to his Dom side. But when his submissive wife starts cringing every time he gives a command, Jamie shackles his dark desires. A bout of rough, frenzied reunion sex makes him wonder if now he should free the Dom he’s kept in chains and teach Erica the joys of submission and sexual surrender. Erica Caldwell secretly loved every sinful thing Jamie did to her on their first night together. However, terrified she’ll become a codependent doormat like her mother, she repeatedly rejects Jamie’s dominance, despite craving the kind of release only he can give her—the release that comes from yielding to Jamie’s every demand.

MARILYN’S REVIEW: This story was really great and was almost perfect. The storyline was great, a little different, which was nice… change of pace, of getting to know each other type a story. The two main characters are already in a relationship. But I felt that in some scenes, there was almost more to be said or to describe, like that the thought hadn’t completely come out onto paper… but was there because you could sense it, so that made some of the steamier scenes a bit shorter then you anticipated. But I did enjoy the book a lot.

Hidden Depths by Aubrianna Hunter – @aubriannahunter

Hidden Depths Final CoverABOUT:  She is pierced, dyed and tattooed, born on the wrong side of the tracks. He is a traditional white knight born of the proverbial silver spoon. Their meeting was an accident, the fact that they became even the most tentative of friends, an anomaly.  Josh had always walked the line, lived the life he was expected to live. He had, by all accounts, the perfect life; a corporate lawyer, a beautiful home, a family empire to run, and the perfect fiancee. He was well on his way. Until one crazy night when he gave in to his desires…

Hidden Depths was really really good, I just loved it. It’s a love story about a connection between opposites that are not really that opposite. Gia and Blake are two totally different people. Gia is the perky girl, quirky tattoo artist that owns her own shop. Blake is the rich powerful attorney with dark hair and blue eyes and not to mention awesome body. These two have known each other for years, being part of a good circle of long time friends. They never dated, but there had always been a pull and between them, they know how to bicker to no end. Blake has been in a relationship with Deb another part of the circle of friends for sometime, engaged at that. But Blake is sensing a sudden pull to Gia and having less true emotional feelings for Deb. So Blake goes to Gia’s shop and gets a tattoo, something that is not supposed to be in his character at all. He’s drawn to her and just can’t seem to understand the pull… What is it about her that just is driving him crazy… Through the story, the characters connect starting with the ever so simple kiss. Gia tries putting up all kinds of red flags as to why they just can’t be together. She even makes Blake keep their relationship as a couple, secret which works for awhile but then he just can’t take it. However all of their friend have figured it out. This story had amazing heat building sex with a little bit of naughtiness. It was written well and it captivated me and though I love a happy ending, I couldn’t help but wish for more. This is a believable as possible real life love story. Well done Aubrianna Hunter, I look forward to more of your books.

If you want a little different, this is the one.

Beside Your Heart by Mary Whitney – @WordyMary

Beside Your Heart is about high schooler  Nicki Johnson plays with emotional fire and Googles her high school love, only to find his name splashed across the British tabloids. Now back in his native England, Adam Kincaid is successful. involved with  a  an aristocratic family background. Mow havinga career in politics, Nicki’s no slouch, but she knows Adam is living a world away from her life. There’d been a  time he was no farther than the next locker. Nicki will never forget their year together or the year of her sister’s death being that they are one in the same. Adam helped Nicki through suffocating grief, and she led him through coming of age. But what happens next…

I had the opportunity to read “Beside Your Heart” as an ARC. I started reading this book Friday and finished it the same day. With major issues going on in my state with fires, Mary’s book being so very emotional, I was able to read and get so into the story and even release some tears which was very cathartic to what was going on in real life as well as in “Beside Your Heart.” Nicki and Adam are the main characters and their story is perfectly precious. It has a heart aching backstory, with the death of one of there family members. Mary writes past and present perfectly. With a prologue in present tense, leading to the ending with the what could be, the balancing was remarkable and most definitely makes you want more and there surely could be as well as sub-storylines for potentially more books. She left us hanging just right that she could continue but doesn’t have to. But I can say, I want More and SOON. LOL. The story is perfectly what High School love is; with young lover, ignorance to true feelings, anguish and heartache, all things you remember from your own time there. Loss of life is a huge impact of this story and dealing with death and even guilt of living. Nicki is a young Texas girl that has had an enormous loss of her younger sister in a car accident that she managed to survive. Adam is a student from England for the year.

Mary encompasses everything, current girls, friendship, how you really feel, why you feel so strong, how we have only so much time, first sexual experience; it’s just rounded perfectly.

I read this in one day and just adored it. Well done Mary I so look forward to more of your stories.

Breach (Breach #1) by K.I. Lynn – @KI_Lynn_

Delilah Palmer has always maintained control of her life and outward personality, blocking the truth that’s just below the surface. Using a façade meant to be normal and hide the scars of her childhood, she’s made a good life for herself. Becoming a successful lawyer, she is finally free from the tortured past that haunts her daily. Until he comes along and breaks
open the cracks.

Nathan Thorne has a haunted past of his own. On the surface, he is personable, extroverted, and loved by everyone; everything Delilah isn’t. However, hidden beneath his charming smile is a dark and tormented man that only Delilah has the power to unveil.

Forced into a small office together, they begin to see through each other’s masks, and the magnetic attraction ignites an explosive relationship. Their firm, Holloway and Holloway Law, has a strict non-fraternization policy, forcing them to conceal their breach. But despite their efforts, separation becomes impossible, deceptions escalate, and Nathan begins to teeter on the edge of being overtaken by his past demons.

What dark secrets does Nathan harbor that stop him from giving in, and what is it that keeps him from healing and moving forward?
And more importantly, where does Delilah fit into his turmoil? Will they be able to accept love and deal with all the trials that develop as their secrets are exposed, or will they fall through the cracks of their pasts and be consumed by all that haunts them?

The sex scenes were all over the place. I needed more story between them. Some things were unrealistic. The one that sticks out the most was when Caroline found the stuff online and all he has to say was to not repeat it? If that big of a deal, wouldn’t he gave flipped out a little more? It explained to Caroline at least more about keeping quiet? The book seemed so dark and I never understood all of the negativity Lila had with herself. I know she had a troubled past but she had had a serious relationship before and now Nathan. Obviously there’s not THAT much off with her…I don’t know. It was good but needed more realism.

I think a lot of people will enjoy this book. It’s steamy and very, very intense. They are both broken and I kind of enjoyed a story where you need the characters to fix one another. Check it out!

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire – @JamieMcGuire_

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand. Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple
bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Marilyn’s Review:
I have had this on my kindle for awhile and it was time… But as quickly as I read it, and from all that I heard about it, I found myself thinking almost too hard to describe my feelings about this book.  This story is exactly like those high school relationships in High School. The ones where you couldn’t imagine not being with that other person. Travis can’t imagine a life without Abby once he connects how much he loves her, but it’s almost obsessive  even boarder line controlling. Though I loved this love story itself, it doesn’t come from a good place. There’s anger and almost danger. with their relationship. There’s underground fighting, lots of drinking and gambling. Abby is a mess. Overall, I see and understand her need to get away from her youth, but she is so wishy washy in her own choices.  Early into the book the feelings she has for Travis are very clear, yet she ponders and puts herself truly through hell. I can’t say I hated this book, but it is was most definitely not in the category of some of the others out there on the top/best sellers.
With that all said it was written great and compelling. I just can’t decide if it was a good story overall.

Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren – @SeeCwrite – @Lolashoes

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only
one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate–and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his
family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been
helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative–completely
–creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s
never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules–or outright smash them–if it means he can have her. All over the office.
As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other.

BB was beyond fantastic! It was breathtaking and I couldn’t put the book down,.The story was gripping and I kept trying to figure out what would happen next.  Where was the next sex spot going to be? Is Bennett going to change and does he realize he’s changing and developing actual feelings for Chloe? Is he even open to a real relationship? Chloe is also the same as him; she can’t stay away and she has the physical lust attraction that is just overwhelming. They must be physically be connected. The panties part is just hilarous, conquest trophies so to speak, but a Need for Bennet, he has a momento of every luscious moment with Chloe. I think this story is so much better then FSOG, you can see it’s not written based on another story (Twilight) with just sex added. It’s in its own league and truly just better because of that I want more…

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover – @ColleenHoover

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

One of the best books I have read in a very long time. It had everything. Sky and Holder are perfect together and their relationship is one that has many pieces to its puzzle that seem to be scattered throughout the book in a beautiful way. I read this in a few hours…unable to put it down. I laughed…I cried and I felt. Which is amazing. Can’t wait to read more! Beautiful.

Buy it, now :)

The Purple Heart by Christie AC – @ChristieAGucker

When does hiding the truth become an outright lie? As an Army psychologist,
Sydney Porter has heard her share of horror stories. The battle-scarred,
down-trodden, and guilt-ridden have come to her office, seeking her help. When a highly decorated soldier is referred to her, she feels confident she can help heal his wounds. The chemistry between herself and Sergeant Aiden Thane is instantaneous. Sparks ignite and against her friend’s advice, she opens both her home and her heart. Torn between a voice of reason and her undeniable feelings, Sydney begins to question just what is hiding behind her lover’s decorated uniform. What secrets are hidden behind his Purple Heart? And does she really want to know?

Marilyn’s Review:
The Purple Heart has a military theme and having worked at The Air Force Academy in Colorado, I am an everyday person that was, with great pride, given the opportunity to observe the military world. ‘The Purple Heart was an honor to read and connect with. It’s a truly amazingly heartfelt story and makes you see that fate happens; destiny and love at first sight is possible. It’s emotionally gripping. I couldn’t put it down, I had to finish and know the end. I can say I’ve almost never cried with a book but The Purple Heart was a definite tearjerker. I feel it’s a story that needs to be told because I believe that this truly happens in real life. With military and everyday people, weird things JUST happen sometimes. I could NEVER recommended this book enough. This story MUST, MUST be a movie.

This happens in real life. If you believe in fate, read it. If you believe all things happen for a reason, read it. If you have any connection with the military, read it. If you believe in true one of a kind love, read It. You will be so glad that you did. The Purple Heart will leave a mark on your heart, I have no doubt!

The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski – @JRedmerski

Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett thought she knew exactly where her life was
going. But after a wild night at the hottest club in downtown Raleigh, North
Carolina, she shocks everyone-including herself-when she decides to leave the
only life she’s ever known and set out on her own. Grabbing her purse and her
cell phone, Camryn boards a Greyhound bus ready to find herself. Instead, she
finds Andrew Parrish.

Sexy and exciting, Andrew lives life like there is no tomorrow. He persuades Camryn to do things she never thought she would and shows her how to give in to her deepest, most forbidden desires. Soon he becomes the center of her daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But there is more to Andrew than Camryn realizes. Will his secret push them inseparably together-or destroy them forever?

I kept reading about this book and it was actually the first download on my Kindle. The cover (with me being an author, it’s things like the cover sells for me–I know the importance of it) was beautiful and so intriguing. Okay, back to the book. It was a little slow in the beginning but I was so enthralled with the description that I had to keep going. These characters together are perfection. They are witty, funny and you can tell that they are two halves to a whole. I could see everything in my head as I was reading and to me that is beautiful writing.

The end ripped my heart out and I think I held my breath until I read the epilogue. It’s an end you don’t see coming! At times, I felt as though the back and forth was not needed but it added to it and I enjoyed getting inside Andrew’s head. I’ll be recommending this to everyone who asks and I just found that there is a sequel coming out (YAY) and cannot wait to see where it picks up!

Butterfly Weeds by Laura Miller

Julia Lang expected a nice night away from the office–free of thoughts
about the case, her failed engagement, her past. But she should have known
better. Her past haunted her every chance it got these days, and tonight it came
in the form of lyrics she never expected to hear again–not after a decade, not
in the arms of another man and definitely not in the form of a confession. Now,
Julia must discover for herself if the song–and more importantly, the man behind it–is enough to leave her new life for her small-town, Missouri roots and a
second chance at love.

Wow, this book was amazing. It was, honestly, hard to get into. I wanted to skip away from the re-story telling of
the past and get to the present. As a writer, I understand why it is important to tell the backstory. However, it did go on quite awhile.

Other than that, this love story hurt so bad but I loved it. I loved the tie in with the title and something that meant the world to the couple. It is beautiful and just when you are triumphant with the characters, the epilogue tears your heart out. Which, is good, because it is believable and you are connected to these characters on an emotional level. Well done.

Keep reading :) It’s beautiful.
